We all have faced and experienced many situations of change; the rapids of uncertainty created by the change along the path to adapt the change. True to the saying “Change is Constant”, irrespective of one’s personal, professional or social life it does not spare any facets of the “Evolution”. This impact of change on Evolution yields to an important “By-product” called “Learning”. Interestingly, Learning sometimes acts as a “Catalyst” to the change itself.

Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.

John F. Kennedy

The “Nature” or the “Eco-system” that we are living in, which is changing all the time, sometimes by itself and sometimes the human “emotions” acts as a trigger for change.

Yes, the smaller waves of human Emotions in the form of Aspirations over a period become Inspirations of larger, stronger, and stable waves. This transition leads to the “Evolution” at the Individual level and impacts the various communities thereby the society holistically.

The waves of inspiration strongly Influence the rate of adaption of change. This Trend of adaption rate can be observed or witnessed like that of a “Doppler effect”

From the moment when Change is witnessed is called the “Inevitable” phase. The Emotions, Influence, Trends, and Evolution are the Key Elements.

What happens next is to “Find One’s Feet”. Finding one’s feet is all about adapting, anticipating, and embracing the change.

Conventionally, any human nature is to expect or will assess to know “what is in it for them” out of any transactions or situations or scenarios. This is what I call a “Destination” inclined approach. The flip side of this approach is the chances of one’s expectation or value realization or the desired outcome may not be achieved or fulfilled. A Probability of 80% of one’s progress to embrace the change will be hindered. This hindrance is due to our focus being only on results or the desired outcome. Hence it is important to focus on the “Journey” to get there. Another 20% of the probability of hindrance is from the situational and eco-systemic changes that emanate out of the Inevitable phase and it certainly requires a mindset change to overcome the hindrances.

The path to the desired destination can be fool proofed and de-risked by asking another important question “what if” that insulates any derailment of progress. Asking this key question helps us in breaking down the path into smaller destinations with multiple levels of planning layer built-in for more resiliencies.

“This multi-layered “Journey” broken down into a smaller set of destinations along the path to achieving the desired destination is a fitting response to the multi-wave of human emotions triggering the influence of changes and its impact. Alike for a like response.”

Now, some key aspects that is important while focusing on the journey, when one is starred at change

“A reactive way is when we change post the change is triggered and a proactive way by anticipating and preparing to embrace the change”

In both these cases, encountering change is a certainty. Sometimes planning with multiple options might also go for a toss. At least once in the journey, an uncertain situation throws one off the track. What is important is one must ‘Decide’ to move ahead.

In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.

- Theodore Roosevelt

This decision is important, it is the Pivotal one. Another important aspect is to develop a thinking mindset with “Clarity”. This is easier said than done, the most difficult one when things go against the tide. But like change, which is certain, developing a thinking mindset with clarity is certain as well.

“The major difference between a leader from the rest is this clarity of thinking that steers successfully through the course of the uncertain tides with confidence”

Another human nature is to hold opinions or judgment about a situation or person or a thing. One takes a position or a stand about the topic of discussion, a situation, a person, or thing. Taking a cue out of this ability of human nature, one can look at one’s situation or eco-systemic change from the 3rd set of eyes. This “consultative approach” enables one to isolate self from the change that is encountered and take a position or stand. This approach will enable a mindset change and in the long run to think with clarity to take a firm decision.

One of the ways to develop this mindset is to document your decisions, respective actions, and outcomes. This will have to be tracked over a period. What is essential is to start at some point in one’s journey of life.

This documented Template can comprise various scenarios encountered, in a specific situation, people involved, actions are taken, and its result. One day this practice will lead to a ready reckoner guide in one’s memory and may be used at one’s own will.

From the moment when change is encountered and embraced is called “Finding One’s Feet”. The Consultative approach, Clear thinking, Decision Making, Journey and Destination are the Key Elements
